SOUTH AFRICA

OXTAIL STEW

A hearty oxtail stew that will warm the cockles of your heart

Oxtail stew is a traditional South African dish made with oxtail, which is slow-cooked until tender in a rich, flavorful broth.

The dish typically includes ingredients like onions, garlic, carrots, tomatoes, and various spices, such as thyme, bay leaves, and allspice. The oxtail is browned first, then simmered for hours, allowing the meat to become melt-in-your-mouth soft and the flavors to develop. It is often served with rice, pap or mashed potatoes. The hearty and comforting stew is a popular meal, especially in colder months, and is beloved for its deep, savory taste.

BUNNY CHOW

A unique and beloved South African street food that originated in Durban

It consists of a hollowed-out loaf of white bread filled with curry, typically made from chicken, lamb, or beans.

The dish was created in the Indian community of Durban as a way to serve curry in a portable, easy-to-eat format. The bread acts as both the bowl and a side to soak up the rich, flavorful curry sauce. While it started as a quick lunch for workers, today bunny chow is enjoyed by people from all walks of life, often served with a side of chutney or pickles for extra flavor.

A true South African classic – elegant, crisp, and perfect for celebrating life on the road.

The Graham Beck Brut Rosé opens with fine bubbles and notes of strawberries, citrus, and a hint of brioche. It’s fresh but refined, with just the right balance between fruit and acidity.

We shared a bottle watching the sun set over the bush – and honestly, it couldn’t have tasted better. A beautiful reminder that you don’t need a special occasion to open something sparkling.
